Sonya, a certified
and experienced music teacher and performer, started to
play the piano at the age of four under the enlightenment
and encouragement of her mother. Sonya also studied to play
other musical instruments, such as the Gu-Zheng and the
recorder. Furthermore, Sonya played the clarinet in marching
bands, and has been playing the harp in orchestras and ensembles,
and as a solo harpist. While studying in the graduate school,
she was very active in many ways beyond her music. She worked
as the Vice-President of the Chinese Student Association
of University
of Arizona, 1995 to 1996. In 1999, she proposed a culture-
and music-exchanging project. During this project, Dr.
Carrol McLaughlin, the well-known harpist and music
educator, was invited to Sonya's home country, Taipei, Taiwan
to participate. Sonya's multi-dimensional talent is indisputable.

by the Taipei Philharmonic Foundation to perform in the
National Recital Hall, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1997. Due to the
great success of that concert, she was invited again in
1999 to perform with Dr. Carrol McLaughlin in the National
Music Hall, Taipei, Taiwan, and to give harp lessons and
the Master Class. Since 1999, Sonya, as an ensemble and
solo harpist, has periodically performed concerts and given
lectures in the Bay Area.
Sonya has dedicated her life to sharing her gift and love
of music. Her goal is to enlighten and raise its awareness
and appreciation. She encourages and educates her students
